Learning To Cut My Own Hair Saved Me Thousands
I freed myself from tyrant barbers and took control of my scalp.

I’ve had this lifelong trend of never being able to find a barber. Let me correct that. I was never able to find a good barber.
Over the years I had come across many barbers, white, Black, fat, short, bald, tall, young, old, women and men. It didn’t matter. I either ended up looking like someone fresh out of jail or they would flake on me for multiple appointments.
I specifically remember one occasion when I called and made a haircut appointment, showed up and waited four whole hours because the barber was waiting for his 4 o’clock cut, which was me. We sat in the barbershop for four hours staring at each other until he finally realized he had fucked up. He just kept telling me that he was waiting for a 4 o’clock but didn’t believe it was me. The worst part is that he gave me a great haircut after so I had to pay and tip him! This was the problem, I was living at the mercy of my barber!
Plus, almost every barbershop I go to does some kind of drug deal in the bathroom. Every one. I’ve gotten my hair cut by so many barbers who were high over the years that I lost count.
Finding a good barber is a very underrated, crucial factor to success in today’s society. A nice haircut can completely change your image in 30 minutes. You can go from looking homeless to looking like a hero with the right set of clippers aimed at your scalp.
After years of horrible encounters with barbers, I decided to take my life into my own hands. I wanted to learn to cut my own hair and not need to rely on a barber. Around the time of my senior year in high school is when I began to teach myself how to cut hair.
Like anyone looking to learn a new skill, I turned to YouTube to solve my problems. There is an entire community of barbers on YouTube that post videos cutting all kinds of hair in different styles. And unlike real barbers, they always show up when I need them.
After about 10+ hours of watching how to cut a temple fade (the easiest haircut ever) and buying a cheap pair of $12 clippers from Marshall’s, I tried cutting my hair. At no surprise, I butchered the temples of my head. However…
